Rates & Insurance


Intake Appointment:  $140 Individual/$150 Couples
The Intake appointment is the initial appointment for both Individuals and Couples which focuses on gathering information, gaining an understanding of what the issues are, and hearing what you are hoping to get out of therapy.  It is typically 55-60 minutes in duration.  During this session, we can get a sense of whether I'm the right therapist for you, discuss some of the parameters and details of the therapy process, and I can give you my initial assessment of what I believe would be most helpful to you at this time.  If at the end of an Intake Appointment I determine that a referral to another provider would be more appropriate, we can discuss it at that time.

Individual Therapy Session: $140
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration.  The frequency of individual therapy varies depending on the issues that you might be working on, how long we've been working on them, and your availability.  Initially, most people attend therapy one time per week.  Some people may later choose to come less often- 2 or 3 times a month.

Couples Couseling: $150
Couples sessions are 50-55 minutes in duration.  At the onset of therapy, couples typically attend sessions either weekly or biweekly.  Although there may be circumstances in which I may ask to meet with either partner individually, both members of the couple should available to attend appointments.  

Phone/Distance Sessions: 25 minutes: $70 / 50 minutes: $140

For already established clients, there are times that you may want to schedule a phone or online session in lieu of an in person session.  These may shorter 15 or 30 minute sessions to discuss a particular issue at hand, or they be full sessions at a time when you're not able to make it in to the office to meet. Please note, that due to issues with licensure portability state to state, you must be in Massachusetts when the session is being conducted.

Paying for Therapy
The full fee for services is due at the end of each session.  I accept cash, checks, and most major credit/debit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express).   I no longer bill any insurance companies directly for therapy services or participate as an in-network provider on any insurance panels.  Many clients seek partial reimbursement from their insurance companies for the cost of therapy, and I am happy to provide them with the detailed receipt necessary to support that process.

If you are interested in finding out if you can get reimbursed for some of the cost of therapy with me, you should contact your health insurance company directly to ask what level of coverage might be offered for out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits.  Please note that most insurances will not reimburse for the full fee, and many HMOs do not have out-of-network benefits. 

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide me with at least 24 hours notice.   If you provide less than 24 hours notice, or if you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, you will be required to pay a $35 late cancellation fee.
